pink experiment day 2

pinkwatching hayden and hussey struggle yesterday – to witness a creature actually truly struggle, to see every grimace of concentration and modulation of approach all the attempts to figure something out seeing them expending every effort and all energy on the struggle – i was watching movements entirely to do with faith.

the 30s that each made took every little piece of life from the batsmen and every piece of assistance they were able to harness from outside neither could have possibly scored another run

the knight of faith probably by mistake or by chance (without intention) makes himself higher than the outside surpassing the ethical the universal. faith begins where thinking leaves off Рhayden and hussey found themselves firmly entrenched within consideration. what their team needs from them, what to do to deliver it, how to engage with the south africans on favourable terms what terms should they accept. hayden and hussey were full of consideration. hayden has in the past been a very considerate batsman but all that was under consideration then was the ball and its area. the ball is a figure that needs to be dwelt on far more extensively – warne now god he is the ball of the century. to consider only the ball is perhaps the key to faith to make a move into the infinite take yourself beyond a position of equality with the ball to a position of lording it over the ball the giant sorcerer emperor hayden once was

pup-dog-clarkes a gangsta of faith

pink experiment day 1

pinkshort mid on short mid wkt mid on rsa look to capture hayden the beast tries with all his vast might to elude the hunters or blast his way free amla positioned at short mid on is an impenetrable knot in the net hayden has no respect and will enter into no negotiation with the field or the advisors thatre nothing but a reflection of him. he works hard but before long the beast is worn down and taken appropriated into the representation of hayden that is in production no form no shape loosely structured – defined – no longer free no longer free to believe

the enormity. given the days news it must be difficult for any cricketer to believe in anything anymore. we watch now as faith rebuilds itself with and around warne and the absurdity of his existence. in being revealed as never having had mortal presence warne takes his place as nothing other than god the nuns provide him with beer and drink to his glory

border gavaskar 2nd test – day 4

a test for the ages with it all. great cricket, great controversy after great controversy. controversies that reach to the limits of human existence, thowing into question law and language – the basics. a double abandoned cartwheel side roll (that harbhajan can be one funny little monkey at times!) there’s been an awful lot of talk going on outside this game of cricket about things said within the game – extraordinary considering all thats ever talked about within a game of crickets kfc.

at the beginning of the cricket show (during the lunchbreak) s odonnell said “i wish we could spend the whole show talking about harbhajans double side roll but instead we have to talk about the controversy over what he said to roy symonds.” undoubtedly the most intelligent sentiment s odonnell has ever expressed. what a great cricket show it could have been!! surely the double abandoned cartwheel side roll should exonerate harbhajan from any charges? a positive, giving atonement rather than the

punitive.

the super slow motion highlights of 10dulkars innings yesterday (i didn’t get to see any of it) were probably the most beautiful things ive ever seen

the period of play leading up to and immediately following haydens incredibly bold decision to start reverse sweeping harbhajan was probably the best period of test cricket ive seen since maybe the first session of the first ashes test 2005. everything was so tight, the bowling was threatening, hussey and hayden were tight and nervous, the sweep shot was being severely challenged (jaques had fallen that way – australia were fragile). the reverse sweep was a stroke of genius that changed the game almost immediately. somewhat blinded by the sheer audaciousness of the act kumble changed the field far to rapidly. hayden and hussey carefully pounced.

the end of the world as we know it day 1

The hardest thing is not going to be able to walk out with Haydos again in a Test match – Justin Langer

“There are Warne and McGrath cakes in the press box,” reports Andrew, licking his lips. “And a Justin Langer profiterole mountain.” Bang goes another New Year’s resolution from our man on the spotcricinfo ball by ball

didnt get to see any of the play today but i did get to see the cakes

fishing buddies 3

in the early hours haydos and symmo took a boat out on the bay looking to catch something to throw on the barbie for a late team breakfast. as they stared at the water and scrutinised the currents they reflected upon what they had done. waiting for the bites they knew would come they were not strangers to remorse. as soon as a big one is landed though theyll forget these less certain feelings and theyll want nothing more than to complete the increasingly savage whitewash.

the saddest most frightening thing for england (and cricket generally given how great freddie should be) is they way in which flintoff is taking on, more and more each day the series continues, the aspect of nasser hussein. lucky it was only a 3 day test.

rudi koertzen is statuesque.

thats the nature of our enterprise cant stop to sympathise now youve been tantalised

cricket slept for just over twelve months it has barely arisen and the ashes are already back in the right place. yesterday cricket woke up with a fervour for revenge. today is all sunsets over the indian ocean.

in exacting his vengeance the count of monte cristo often feels a tear in his eye. toward the end of the book he returns to the chateau d’if to remind himself what his enterprise has all been about. i imagine matthew hayden at this very moment is on a flight to the oval. the revenge does not stop here.

adelaide oval forever – day 3

matthew hayden has a very lovely pink bright bat handle.

i didn’t get to see much of the cricket at all today. mostly saw the bit where matty was batting. it wasnt much. the only notes i wrote today were these two-

1. heavy ball

2. balls a culmination

i think mark nicholas was about to try and describe the physics behind the ‘heavy ball’ that flintoff bowls but stopped. and the second was some reference to someting heals said about some delivery bowled by hoggard or someone. he was saying something about the epic history of work and effort that is behind every delivery.
